My Thoughts. Just My Thoughts.
Great guy. Amazing story. Read about friend and role model JD Stier.
All my life I've spent learning these lessons over and over and over.
Each trip home has me spending a couple hours organizing the artifacts of my youth. Here are a few of my 78,365 Mallo Cup points I possess.
If you are not familiar with the Mallo Cups reward program, each time you mail in 500 of these points, they send you back a coupon for $1.00 worth of Mallo Cups.
I didn't earn all of these. Most of the points are from my old man. He made sure these were always offered in a vending machine at the place he worked- though any vending machine company would've been silly to discontinue offering what had to be the most popular item at this machine.
My dad collected these in a desk drawer. When I was 12, he had me empty that drawer. For the next few days, I sorted these points and cut them up for easy transport. I felt rich for the first time as I did this.
Despite my bounty of points, I have never sent in a single claim. It does appear that I would have my choice of many fun promotional items , in addition to coupons for more Mallo Cups.
A reader may wonder why I have not cashed these points in for the $150.00 of Mallo Cups they are worth: I suppose it is because my old man never really passed anything down to me that might be considered a family heirloom. These Mallo Cup points are just that, a family heirloom, on some level. If I cashed them in, what would I pass on to my son one day?
Cool new site and a fascinating account of how a Junior College team with only 5 players managed to win a tournament game despite being over-matched by their opponent. By the end of the game, 2 of the 5 players had fouled out of the game and they were left playing with their 3 against the opponents 5.

This is a pretty interesting site devoted to the minutiae within the TV show Fringe. I've been looking it over for a half an hour and the most interesting things I've seen is the meaning behind the glyphs that are placed before each commercial break.
If you consider yourself among the growing number of Cortexi-fans out there, hit the picture above to discover the meaning for each of these glyphs.
